ROSA CUCHILLO

[INSIDE] THE FORD THEATRE

Tickets : $15, $12

  THE PLAY
Rosa Cuchillo is a rite of purification, cleansing and growth based on widely used traditions native to populations in the Andes of Peru. It is a story founded on love: Rosa Cuchillo is a mother who looks for her missing son beyond the grave, traveling through Uqhu Pacha, the “World Below,” and Hanaq Pacha, the “World Above.” Her return to this world, Kay Pacha, seeks to harmonize life and, through dance and expression, help people to lose their fear and to begin healing from neglect. The play was created to be presented at Mercados Andinos in Peru. Rosa Cuchillo bursts into the everyday life of villagers and discovers them in a dialogue with theatricality that includes fables, dance, rites, imagery, music, dreams, and realities. It seeks to remove memory in order to facilitate a fresh outlook on Peru’s recent history, that lived in the last twenty years.
