  THE PLAY
A smash hit with audiences and critics alike, In A Yellow Sun (Memories of an Earthquake) was born from the research conducted by Teatro de Los Andes focusing on a sad yet repeated phenomenon: in response to the powerful earthquake that rocked several areas of Bolivia in 1988, the country received an outpouring of international aid around which was immediately woven an extensive net of corruption. The more than $30 million intended to help the homeless and rebuild damaged zones were diverted, misappropriated and stolen with impunity. While this is a theme that could easily fall within the realm of allegations, in this case it gives rise to a piece whose explosive beauty, gifted actors, and delicate balance between tragedy and humor provide a deep and moving experience.
